Ici la Lune has worked in partnership with Bulgari's Fragrance Department, developing several training modules on the various collections of this prestigious Italian brand. Building on this collaboration, we have also designed presentations for other Bulgari divisions, including Jewelry, Watches and Accessories. More recently, we have extended our expertise by creating training content for Delsey and Van Cleef's Extraordinary Fragrance Collection.
Take fragrance presentations, for example. Produced in close collaboration with Bulgari Parfums and Van Cleef, these projects aim to create a set of detailed contents that explore the universe and distinctive characteristics of a fragrance or fragrance collection. This content includes the inspiration behind the fragrance, its universe, the main ingredient, the perfumer, the olfactory pyramid and other essential elements. The aim is to enable learners, who are often sales consultants, to understand and retain the specifics of fragrance so as to use them effectively when selling in-store.
The raw material for a presentation consists mainly of text and media, usually supplied by the marketing department. These media, official and validated, are used to create and produce presentations. The aim is to transform these elements into animated, interactive content, integrated into a narrative that the trainer can broadcast during training sessions.
The challenge is to convey the emotion of a fragrance or ingredient. In face-to-face training, it's easier to evoke this emotion with the product or ingredient in hand, but it becomes a challenge in distance learning. To achieve this, motion design and music play a crucial role in evoking olfactory sensations. For example, the animation of a rose opening with a few drops of water in a sunrise setting, supported by appropriate sound design, can recreate the impression of the scent of a perfume.
The projects we develop for our training courses are not intended for public release. They are presentations designed for internal or external use, often containing confidential information.
We have created the "Lumière de Lune" perfume brand with two distinct fragrances: Lune d'Argent and Lune Mystique. Each of these fragrances explores a unique universe while sharing the same DNA and a common celestial inspiration.
Lune d'Argent is a fragrance with bluish tones, featuring Blue Peony as its main ingredient. This fictional flower, with its unique, unnatural color, offers the freedom to create an imaginative, captivating story around its unique characteristics.
Lune Mystique draws its inspiration from the Lotus, a sacred flower within Eastern religions, offering an olfactory story deeply rooted in Asia.
To begin with, the aim is to structure the content of a training presentation by first defining the chapters that will group together the slides, each focusing on a particular facet of the fragrance.
To bring this content to life, we use motion design.
Motion design plays an essential role in storytelling, combining visuals, sound and movement to create immersive, emotional stories. This is particularly crucial in the field of training, where creativity and visual quality are essential to captivate and leave a lasting impression.
Animation design fuses graphics, animation and technology to produce visually dynamic and captivating creations. Its creative possibilities are vast, allowing complex ideas to be simplified and transformed into striking animated visuals.
We use Adobe After Effects for editing, special effects and text animation in our training content. Motion design captures attention with smooth transitions, animated typography and sound design that helps create emotion. We explore different techniques, from stop-motion animation to 3D animation, using tools such as Cinema 4D or Blender.
Once the structure of the training module has been defined, we start with the script, a storyboard for each slide, which we share with the customer. In this case, the customer is us!
To begin with, we generally start with an introductory slide that highlights the world of the Lumière de Lune brand. The lunar star plays a central role in this animation, beginning with a moon phase followed by the emergence of the Lumière de Lune logo from a lunar ground. This introduction is essential to suggest the two fragrances and their respective ingredients, establishing a distinctive and captivating atmosphere from the outset.
The videos of the moon and the two flowers come from Adobe Stock, a platform that offers high-quality, high-resolution media. For the music, we usually use the services of a sound design agency. However, for this project, we used Artlist, a music media bank that offers a search engine to find tracks based on theme, style, mood and more.
For the creation of our media, we create animations by combining Photoshop editing with images from Adobe Stock and Firefly. For the editorial content, the writing of texts is mainly done by our team, with occasional assistance from ChatGPT.
The use of motion design enables us to produce creatively staged, personalized content. For Lumière de Lune, in particular, we explored another dimension: that of real-time 3D.
The appeal of real-time 3D lies in the freedom it offers the user, particularly in the context of training, to navigate freely among the content without following a predefined order. The result is an immersive, dynamic universe built around the two fragrances, offering a captivating, interactive experience.
The challenge lay in creating an experience that was both realistic and poetic, with a butterfly and a dragonfly enlivening the scene. When designing a 3D scene, it is essential to integrate dynamic elements such as 3D objects, music, videos, etc., to ensure maximum scalability. All these elements are managed by Drupal, including the translation of 3D texts, which play a crucial role in the narration of this immersive experience.
The 3D experience offers two distinct navigation approaches: interactive and linear. In the interactive approach, users are free to discover content at their own pace, exploring in total autonomy. In the linear approach, on the other hand, content discovery is guided sequentially, with no direct intervention from the trainer. These two navigation modes can coexist, either simultaneously or successively, offering flexibility adapted to the needs and preferences of the user or learners.
This type of 3D production is more sophisticated than motion design, yet still compatible with Modulae. By combining real-time 3D and motion design, we can create a unique and personalized training experience.
We have published a Lumière de Lune webapp that presents this interactive real-time 3D experience, available on http://lumieredelune.app
The training tool used by the trainer is Modulae, a solution developed by Ici la Lune, which enables the discovery, customization and distribution of multilingual training presentations.
Modulae redefines the way training is delivered: it offers immersive content, facilitates optimal collaboration between international teams, and enables content to be shared securely anytime, anywhere.
Modulae enables brands to control and distribute their messages in all languages, centralize all their training content, and manage user access efficiently.
Modulae enhances your training modules by integrating unique visual experiences that captivate your audience. From 3D to motion design, the aim is to create immersive experiences that transport your audience to new horizons.
Modulae is used by Bulgari, Delsey and Van Cleef for their training courses and marketing presentations.
